About Cedar Point
Cedar Point Commons is a major retail development located at Hwy 77 and 66th Street.
It opened in October 2007. Cedar Point is just one phase of redevelopment along the east side. For

Redevelopment area created in response to a new "North-South" Runway at the
Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport

New runway
is approximately 1,200 feet from an existing neighborhood and began
operation in October 2005

Noise
experts concluded that aircraft operations on the new runway will create
more noise and vibration than the exiting houses and apartments can tolerate

The City's
policy is to purchase houses and apartments in the Cedar Corridor as
funds become available

The City
has already purchased a number of houses, apartment buildings and businesses

A master
concept plan has been formulated to guide future development in the area

Private
developers will redevelop with airport compatible uses over the coming 10-12
years
-
A regional
retail center with a SuperTarget, Home Depot, and other retailers is
proposed as the first phase of the redevelopment north of 66th street
