In
its Best in Real Estate issue, Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal recognized
Richfield's Cedar Point Commons with the 'Best Retail Development'
award. The award committee praised the project for its significance to
Richfield, its complexity, the way in which the project complements its
surroundings, and its excellent architecture and site design.
Cedar Point is a
$40 million, 30-acre, 375,000 square-foot project on the east side of Richfield
at State Highway 77 and 66th Street. The project will include a Home Depot and
SuperTarget, TCF Bank and numerous smaller restaurants and retailers. It is
expected to open in October.
The project has
been many years in the making. That's due mainly to the project's proximity to
the airport and collaboration of multiple agencies, including the Minnesota
Department of Transportation, Hennepin County, Metropolitan Airports Commission,
and more than 80 residential and commercial property owners.
The article,
published April 20, stated: "Because of the developer's persistence, the
collaboration with so many organizations and the design of the project, the
Business Journal's Best in Real Estate judges named Cedar Point Commons the
winner in the Retail Development category."
