Overview
The Fire Services Department provides emergency fire and medical response as well as prevention, inspection and education services.
The Department employs a Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, three Captains, three Lieutenants,
18 full-time firefighters, and one clerical worker.
The department possesses an excellent ISO Class 4 rating, which translates into favorable insurance premiums for property owners.
Response Time
The Department handled 3,800 calls in 2006 with one of the top response times in the
area at approximately 3 minutes.
Fire losses remain low thanks to the Department's promptness and public awareness of good safety practices.
Services
In addition to traditional firefighting, the fire
department also offers emergency medical response, hazardous materials response,
ice rescue, fire prevention/public education programs, and car seat checks.
Richfield Fire also participates in the Southwest Metro Joint Operations Group,
a program where neighboring departments partner in responding to calls.
Our staff is trained to handle and has the equipment to handle a variety of situations, including technological and natural disasters. And our firefighters assist the City's Inspection and Health division with roofing, siding, and environmental health complaint inspections. By enforcing fire and other codes, the numbers and severity of fires and injuries can be reduced.
