Is "Wi-Fi" Coming to Richfield?
The Richfield City Council made
'Wi-Fi' a priority in
2007. Nothing formal has been approved yet.
For Wi-Fi
to become a reality, Richfield must first reach an
agreement with a vendor. The second part of the process will involve setting up the infrastructure needed to bring Wi-Fi into
Richfield households. Richfield's existing infrastructure and
simple geography should make this process go quickly.
More
details will be posted as they become available.
What is Minneapolis Doing?
In Minneapolis, a vendor is working on
building a wireless network covering all 59 square miles of
Minneapolis, providing residents, businesses, and visitors with
wireless broadband access anywhere in the City. According to the City
of Minneapolis, the wireless contract
also includes a comprehensive set of community benefits that goes far
beyond what any other city in the country has negotiated.
