Prevent Check & Credit Card Fraud - Develop a store policy that ensures cashiers are requesting photo identification when they accept credit cards and checks as form of payment. Honest customers know that a request for I.D. is for their protection as well as the store's. Also, train your employees not to return "bad" credit cards, checks, or counterfeit money to suspect customers. They should be turned over to the police for investigation.
Don't Get Stuck With A Bogus Buck!
- Train cashiers to quickly inspect large bills (especially $20 denominations).
- Use counterfeit detector pens to help identify suspect bills.
- Compare a genuine bill to the suspect bill. Does the paper feel similar & do they look identical?
- If you receive counterfeit money, do not give it back to the suspect. Call 911!
