National Night Out" (NNO) is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the
National Association of Town Watch (NATW). We cordially invite you and your neighbors to be a part of our NATIONAL NIGHT OUT celebration.
If your block is a part of Neighborhood Crime Watch, your Block Captain will receive all necessary registration materials. Non-Crime Watch members may call 612-861-9845 for a planning kit or you may download the following forms.
During NNO, Neighborhood Crime Watch groups are asked to lock their doors, turn on their outside lights and spend the evening outside with their neighbors. Police Officers, Firefighters and City Council Members make an attempt to appear at every neighborhood event that has registered their block party with the Richfield Police Crime Prevention Unit.
If you have further questions, contact Jill Mecklenburg at the Richfield Police Department at 612-861-9845.
Last year's National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, more than 34 million people participate in NNO.
We know that keeping our community safe is a partnership effort. A vital community begins with strong neighborhoods. We can achieve this goal by working together. The Richfield Police Department and thousands of communities nationwide join forces against crime and drugs each year by observing National Night Out.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
