Public Works Maintenance Facility

Public Works Garage

Building Summary:

Cost:  Approximately $12.5 million

Size:  Nearly 100,000 square feet

Opened:  June 2008

'Green' Features:  Large skylights provide light to the garage bay, geothermal heating and cooling uses the earth's constant 50 degree temperature, and rain gardens prevent excessive water runoff.

Old City Garage

The old City Garage located near 77th Street and Pillsbury Avenue was partially eliminated when 77th Street was expanded in the 1990s.  This caused a shortage of garage space for City maintenance vehicles.  In addition, the former garage was not big enough to handle today's larger equipment.
