Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) is preparing plans
for a major project to upgrade a sanitary sewer line that serves Edina and
Richfield. The project will begin at 75th Street and Xerxes Avenue and
will extend east along 75th Street to I-35W. It will cross I-35W near
the 76th Street bridge and extend east along 76th Street to 11th Avenue,
where it will turn north. It will extend north along 11th Avenue to 72nd
Street, turn east on 72nd, and extend east to Cedar Avenue on 72nd
Street or on Diagonal Blvd.
The project is being designed for MCES by Howard R. Green Company (HRG).
Surveyors from HRG will begin working in the project area during the
week of July 16. They will be working from a pickup truck with the
company name and a rotating beacon for safety. They will work mostly
within street right-of-way. They will enter private property only as
necessary to survey utility markings that will be painted on the ground
by utility companies. They may also need to locate and excavate (with
hand shovels) some property corner irons adjacent to streets; if this
occurs, they will put the excavated soil and sod back immediately after
completing their survey.
In addition, HRG will begin soil boring work during the last two weeks
of July. The borings will be performed within street rights-of-way at
various locations along the project route. The work will be done by
Braun Intertec and by Layne Minnesota Company
