Project:
Police, Fire, and City Hall Facility

Location:
6700 Portland Ave.
(site of existing City Hall)

Summary:
The Police, Fire, and City Hall Facility would be nearly double the size of the existing facility.  Much of that added space would be dedicated for covered parking for public safety vehicles.  The facility would be built on the same site as the existing building.  Besides improved parking for police vehicles, the new building would be more energy efficient, comply with ADA regulations, and provide a better work space for employees.

City Hall Advisory Task Force (CHAT):
Two task force groups were developed to determine whether to rehabilitate the existing facility or to build a new one.  The first advisory group recommended to the Council that the City Hall facility should be replaced by a larger, more efficient facility.  The second group was charged with determining site location, choosing an architect, developing site plans, and funding options.  To read a summary of CHAT I click here.

Cost/Funding:
$21.6 million (estimate)

Square Feet:
87,500 sq. feet

Timeline:
The Council will be considering a first reading of a transitory ordinance authorizing the planning, design, and construction of a new Police/Fire/City Hall facility and scheduling a public hearing and second reading for June 10, 2008.

(above) Existing City Hall facility along Portland Avenue.  The proposed new facility will house Police, Fire, and City administration.  Plus, it will be nearly double in size with covered parking for public safety vehicles.
