North Connection

The City of Richfield is pursuing preliminary design for a connection between the north end of Richfield Parkway / 17^th Avenue and Bloomington Avenue near the Highway 62 crossing.  This connection will generally take place near the south end of Taft Park, roughly along the 63^rd Street alignment.  The Richfield Transportation Commission, an advisory group to the City Council, has selected several alternatives to move forward in the preliminary design process.  The Commission is now assessing a number of key issues:

• Potential impacts to surrounding residents
• Changes to traffic patterns
• Potential impacts to Taft Park
• The future regional trail
• Changes in Metro Transit service
• Long term Parkway and redevelopment visions

At the March 2, 2011 meeting, the Transportation Commission recommended the 25-mph Curve Alternative as their preferred layout.  A Public Open House will be held Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Mt. Calvary School Gymnasium (located at 66^th Street and 16^th Avenue).  The open house will give the public an opportunity to comment on the preferred layout alternative and provide input on the project before the City Council considers the recommendation.
