Volunteer Opportunities with the Richfield Farmers Markets

Already love your Richfield Farmers Market but looking for a new way to support our local food system and have fun? Then come volunteer with us! There are numerous volunteer opportunities available and we are always in need for extra help. Training will be provided for all volunteer opportunities.

If interested in any volunteer opportunities, contact us at 612-861-9362 or FarmersMarket@cityofrichfield.org

Cooking Demo Assistant: Once a month, we like to host cooking demos where local chefs come in and show customers how to use certain products/produce found at the market. Come help our chefs with the set-up and cooking of the demo as well as engage customers to participate through handing out food samples and recipe cards. Specific Food Safety Training will be provided.

Social Media Assistant: Are you a technology wizard or media person? Then come help us bump up our facebook friends or weekly number of tweets. We are looking to expand our social media and other online news sources to increase the overall promotion of the market.

Promotions Assistant: Every Spring and ongoing through the summer, we post our market flyers at local businesses, organizations, churches, libraries etc. in the Richfield and South Minneapolis communities. We need your help to connect the market to your neighbors. This position also offers the opportunity to occasionally attend local community events/fairs with market staff to help spread the word about the upcoming market season and events. We’ll work with you to determine where and how you want to help promote the market.

Information Table Assistant: One of our most important jobs at the market, you would be the welcoming face of the market. Tasks include greeting customers and hand out event flyers to customers, processing customers’ Credit/EBT card transactions, collecting tokens from vendors. recording hourly customer counts, and other general customer service. This is a great opportunity if you are looking to gain an inside experience into how the market is run.

Set up/Take down Assistant: One of the most fundamental tasks of the market, we are always looking for more hands to help in our daily set-up and break down of the market. This is an opportunity that requires more physical labor as you would be moving

Have other volunteer opportunities in mind? Or want to do something more long term like an internship*? Contact us to discuss your ideas.

*at this time we are unable to pay our interns.
