The Richfield Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) administers tenant-based Section 8 rental assistance vouchers. The rent assistance provides federal rent subsidies for low-income individuals and families in privately-owned, existing market-rate housing units. The HRA pays the rent subsidy directly to the owner of the rental property with funds provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Any type of private rental housing is eligible provided that the unit meets federal housing quality standards (HQS) and is licensed by the city. Also the city does not have any public housing.
The Section 8 waiting list is currently closed and not expected to open until 2016. Therefore, the HRA is not accepting new applications. Please refer to HousingLink for other housing authorities that may be accepting applications.
