What is Penn Fest?
Sometimes, Penn Avenue in Richfield is fairly quiet, and sometimes it's bumper-to-bumper with cars, but neither will be the case on Sunday, September 21 from Noon to 4:00 pm. That's when Open Streets at Penn Fest happens. On that day, Penn Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic and cars will be replaced with fun activities like music, dancing, crafts, sports, kids entertainment and more! People are welcome to ride bicycles or stroll down the avenue to enjoy the street without motorized vehicles to contend with. Businesses along Penn Avenue will be showcased and will be a part of the fun!
Sign up your sports league, youth group, business, or just about any organization for participation in Open Streets at Penn Fest. It's a great chance to show off your talents, recruit new members, or just plain have fun! We'll reserve a section of the street for you. Simply fill out and return the appropriate form:

Since 2008, Penn Fest has been held to promote area businesses in the Penn and 66th Street area, build a greater sense of community among neighbors, and give people a voice in the future of the neighborhood. In 2012, through a contract from the Center for Prevention at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, Penn Fest became an Open Streets event to encourage residents of all ages and abilities to get out and enjoy Penn Avenue in physically-active ways in a safe, car-free environment. Open Streets events promote better health by encouraging increased physical activity, helping residents feel a greater connection to their community, and supporting local businesses.
