Planning Commission vacancy announced 

The City Council is now accepting applications to fill a mid-term vacancy on the Planning Commission.  The selected resident will serve from the date of appointment through January 31, 2015.  This relatively short appointment offers the perfect opportunity for a resident to "test the waters" and see if this type of community service is a good fit.  Contact City Planner Melissa Poehlman (612-861-9766) for additional information related to Commission work.  Applications are due to the City Manager's Office by Friday, May 30, 2014.


The Planning Commission is a seven-member body, appointed by the City Council, that is charged with guiding the orderly and compatible development of Richfield.  The Commission holds public hearings and makes recommendations to the City Council regarding long-term land use plans, zoning regulations and development applications. 


The Planning Commission holds meetings on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Richfield Municipal Center Council Chambers. The Commission also conducts a work session six times per year. Worksessions are held in the Bartholomew Room at the Municipal Center unless otherwise noted (times and dates vary).

Planning Commission meetings are broadcast LIVE on government access cable channel 16.
