Richfield’s City Council has established various advisory commissions to encourage citizen participation in City matters, as well as to suggest new programs or policies and to serve as residential liaisons with the City Council.
Appointments to the various commissions are made in January of each year, or as vacancies occur, at the direction of the City Council (the Chief Judge of Hennepin County District Court appoints members to the Charter Commission). Openings will be advertised in the Richfield Sun Current and on the web site. Application forms are available at the City Manager’s office and on this web page.
Commission members serve a three-year term. Terms are staggered to avoid vacancies in all positions at the same time. Membership on the Human Rights, Arts, Celebrations and Friendship City Commissions each include two non-residents. Youth applicants serve a one-year term (commencing June 1 and ending May 31) and must be less than 21 years old at time of appointment.
