Construction on the roundabout at Richfield
Parkway (17th Avenue) and 66th Street concluded in August 2007.
The two-lane roundabout is the first of its kind in Richfield.
The City Council decided an improved
intersection here would safely accommodate increased traffic volumes
as a result of the Cedar Point Commons shops which opened in October
2007. Cedar Point is part of a larger redevelopment effort on
the City's eastern border.
This development is important to the east side
of Richfield because it provides amenities to residents living in
east Richfield and south Minneapolis while acting as a buffer from
the increased airport noise and vibration caused by the new runway.
